Bhavana has come a long way since her debut in Nammal. The actress, who is mostly seen in Malayalam movies, has also acted in Tamil and Telugu movies

Karthika Balachandran (Bhavana) was born on 6th June 1986 in Thrissur, Kerala, India. Her nickname is Kaathi. Her parents are Pushpa and G.Balachandran, a cinematographer. She has an older brother, Jayadev.

Bhavana made her entry into cinema with Nammal (2002) which won her the Kerala State Special Jury Award when she was in eleventh grade. The year 2003 was good for Bhavana with more hits like Chronic Bachelor, C.I.D Moosa and Swapnakoodu.While Parayam (2004) and Bunglavil Outha (2005) failed to do well, she had successful movies like Naran (2005) and Chandhupottu (2005). In Chithiram Pesuthadi (2006), a Tamil movie, she played Charu, an NGO worker, who falls in love with a goon and tries to change him. Her performance won her the Filmfare Best Tamil Female Debut Award and Filmfare Best Tamil Actress Award.Following this success, Bhavana worked in Tamil movies like Veyil (2006), Arya (2007) and Vaazthugal (2008). Her Malayalam movies like Twenty 20 (2008) and Lollypop (2008) did well.Bhavana’s upcoming movies in 2009 are Sagar Alias Jackie and Robin Hood.
